“ Oppositions brings concord: out of discord comes the fairest harmony”

Heraclitus of Ephesus was an ancient Greek philosopher who lived from five hundred and forty B.C to four hundred and eighty B.C. He lived in Ephesus, Ionia, which was a Greek city off the coast of Asia Minor, which is now known as Turkey. During this time period, the development of writing was just beginning. History and important information was passed down using stories and hand on experiences. He was most commonly known for his writings for universal change.  Very few novels that he wrote are still available today.

In a way, The Ying Yang effect is similar to this quote. In the Ying Yang effect, there’s the good in the bad, and bad in the good. This is related to Heraclitus of Ephesus' quote, because there are positives in the negatives, and negatives in the positives. There’s always a humbling effect of negativity in positive situations and uplifting effects of positivity in negative situations to help ensure harmony.

Due to being diagnosed in the third grade with Turret Syndrome, I have encountered many negative adversities on the road to success. This disability makes me work twice as hard to succeed in the same way a person without a disability would. Many people would see me and think of the negative effects my condition creates, but, since I learned how to prosper with it, I have learned  to accept and adapt to it.  Now I look at my condition as a positive aspect of my life. Some of these positives would be meeting a lot of new people with the same diagnosis and giving myself different opportunities to be successful. My condition has showed me who my real friends are, and the ones who have been there for me, even when I'm to embarrassed to go out, or even when I was ready to give up.
